Working 1-to-1

In addition to regular vinyasa flow classes, and courses cultivating movement and stillness, I offer unique bespoke 1-to-1 sessions where I bring together a variety of modalities in an integrated, therapeutic, and holistic approach to help you deal with a range of mental and physical health concerns including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, burnout, and so on.

We work together to find out which tools and practices are most beneficial to regulate your nervous system and develop support from the inside out, facilitating more ease, resilience and lasting well-being.

Find out how we can work together

I would just like to say how much I have appreciated your support over the last year. You are incredibly wise and have so many tools in your ‘tool box’ to adapt to where I am at any point. Your help has been transformative to me at such a difficult time. There have been days I’ve seen you when I’m not sure how I can carry on and your calm, wise, insightful work with me always helps.

Give yourself some time and space

Retreats in the UK and abroad

Going on retreat brings the opportunity to spend some time away from the busy-ness of your everyday life, our obligations and ambitions. We allow ourselves to slow down, reset, and for a little while ‘just be’.

I select each retreat location in the UK and abroad intentionally to provide a comfortable and relaxing space that allows us to orient towards inner stillness and joyfulness. You’ll be supported by a combination of practices – including energising vinyasa flow, breathwork, meditation and deep rest – yummy and nourishing food, and meaningful connection to others in small groups.

Yoga and meditation teacher training

Are you interested in deepening your practice or sharing what you love with others?

I’m part of the teacher training faculties at Yogacampus, Yogarise and Yogahome, and offer a range of long trainings and short Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops. Most trainings are fully accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals.

I also offer private mentoring sessions providing a confidential, non-judgmental, open space to allow you to reflect on your teaching experience, ask questions, nurture what you love about your work as a teachers, reconnect to your inner resources and inspiration, and receive guidance, advice, support and reassurance from an experienced senior teacher.

I can’t really say enough good things about this teacher training at Yogarise with Isabell . She is a wonderful teacher, yes, and a fountain of knowledge but also the training is clear, concise and eloquently put. Assignments are both informative and intuitive. Isabell is kind and encouraging but also disciplined. Everything you need in an excellent meditation training. Seek her out, she’s great.

My yoga journey

My teaching is based on over two decades of practice and a wealth of experience as a senior yoga and meditation teacher and trainer. I started teaching in 2009, and since then have continued my training almost continuously branching out into neuroscience and counselling most recently.

Read more about me

I’ve been fascinated by yoga and meditation since my early teens, but other than reading books on Buddhism, Taoism, existential philosophy and everything else a teenager is usually attracted to nothing much ever came of it. In the early 2000s I finally started practicing Tai Chi and going on meditation retreats, and on one of those retreats I had my first yoga class. Back in London I was quickly hooked and yoga immediately became a constant in my life. A few years later I started teaching while continuing to work for digital agencies as a designer for a few more years before letting that go to teach full time.

My flowing vinyasa yoga classes interweave yoga philosophy and thoughts on the psychology of the mind with intelligent, imaginative (and often somewhat unusual), fun sequences. Connection to the breath, attention to alignment, and encouragement to develop clarity and awareness off the mat are integral to my teaching. My teaching is inclusive, and infused with warmth, care and humour. It typically includes hands-on assists and eclectic playlists.

I also love the complementing balancing nature of a gentle flow or restorative yoga practice and regularly teach these in courses and on retreat.

I’m passionate about my own ever evolving practice and am lucky to have studied with and continue to be inspired by some of the world’s leading yoga teachers including Sarah Powers, Richard Freeman, Alan Finger, Shiva Rea, Doug Keller and Rod Stryker amongst many others.

My mindfulness and meditation teaching is influenced by my long standing Vipassana and mindfulness practice. My courses and workshops cover a range of subjects including mindfulness, self-compassion, resilience, eastern philosophy, modern psychology, neuroscience and more.

I regularly attend silent meditation retreats at Gaia House or Amaravati Monastery. I’m particularly influenced by my meditation teachers Leela Sarti, Ajahn Amaro and Ajahn Sundara, and in a wider field Tara Brach, Rick Hanson and Jack Kornfield.

I hold accreditation by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body, the British Wheel of Yoga, and Yoga Alliance International and Yoga Alliance Professionals.
