Meditation teacher training
I offer a variety of workshops and courses live online and in-person to train people specifically to teach meditation. Covering a range of meditation traditions and approaches, these courses give you the tools to develop your own voice as a meditation teacher.
Courses cover
History and psychology of meditation in the yoga traditions and in Buddhism, and their expression in modern mindfulness
Different styles and techniques: concentration, mindfulness, and heart based practices, and a variety of meditation postures
Teaching skills including tools to structure a meditation session and course, use of language, self-care and boundaries
Obstacles, emotional responses, contra-indications and trauma sensitive teaching – and much more…
The Meditation Series: 4 stand-alone workshops with an optional teaching qualification
I’m co-teaching this series of workshops with Graham Burns for Yogacampus live on Zoom. Each workshop is divided into 2 afternoon sessions. Book a workshop separately, or combine them all and add an additional series of tasks and assignments to gain a full teaching qualification.
The workshops are:
Meditation myths debunked
Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September 2026
14:30 – 17:30
What exactly is meditation? How and why do we do it? And why does it sometimes seem so difficult? This module will challenge some common preconceived ideas about meditation, discuss different meditation styles and techniques, and give you a practical structure for understanding meditation in a broad, non-dogmatic framework. Explore challenges and obstacles, and appreciate risks and cautions.
Meditation roots and shoots
Tuesday and Wednesday, date tbc
14:30 – 17:30
Different historical traditions have given us different approaches to meditation, and meditation’s development continues up to the present day. In this module, learn, through lecture and practice, about the differences (and similarities) between meditation in different yoga traditions, Buddhism, and the modern mindfulness movement.
Guiding meditation
Tuesday and Wednesday, date tbc
14:30 – 17:30
Have you ever wanted to be able to lead your friends, colleagues, or students in meditation, but are not sure how to go about it? This module will give you key techniques for structuring and guiding both stand-alone meditation practices and for incorporating meditation into general yoga classes, including tips around posture, use of language, and cautions and challenges. You do not need to be a yoga teacher to take this module!
Meditation is all in the mind (or is it?)
Tuesday and Wednesday, date tbc
14:30 – 17:30
Modern scientific research continues to confirm the physical, mental, and neurological benefits of meditation. In this module, learn how meditation impacts the brain and nervous system, with a particular emphasis on stress relief. In addition we will explore trauma awareness and what it means to teach with inclusivity and diversity in mind. This module can be interesting for yoga teachers who want to learn more about inclusive teaching, difference and diversity without being purely interested in teaching meditation.
Additional teaching qualification
If you complete all four workshops, you can take an optional certification as a Yogacampus meditation teacher, which requires completion of the below tasks and assignments within 15 months of your first workshop:
- Have a 30 minute private online conversation with Graham or myself to discuss your assignments and any questions you may have about the course materials.
- Maintain a diary of your own personal meditation practice for at least 20 days in a 30 day period, and submit a summary of your reflections and insights from maintaining and journalling a regular practice.
- Submit audio recordings of you guiding two different meditations, each of about 20 minutes in length (details will be provided).
You will receive written feedback on your diary reflections and audio recordings from Graham or myself.
