Early summer retreat in Sicily

Yoga and mindfulness retreat, all levels welcome

Enjoy your practice, rest and relax, connect with a lovely group of people, and soak up the beautiful scenery of southern Sicily, overlooking the sea.

Roccaseta is a farmhouse surrounded by olive trees, carob trees and prickly pears, filled with the scents of Mediterranean scrubs, and overlooking the sea. The main stone house expresses ancient beauty and connects with the land. The saltwater pool — nestled between dry stone walls — is a refreshing oasis of relaxation where you can unwind and enjoy the view of the sea and the vivid colours of this corner of Sicily.

Yoga

Each morning will start with some breathing and a short meditation in the fully covered outdoor yoga space.

We then move into an invigorating, creatively sequenced vinyasa flow practice taught with music and including modifications for all levels. The late afternoon sessions will be slow, nurturing and calming gentle flow and restorative sessions, closing with a longer meditation.

Sessions will include my usual reflections on philosophy, psychology and science to deepen understanding and inspire discussion.

Mats and props are provided.

Accommodation

All rooms are different and full of charm and atmosphere, combining Mediterranean tradition and modern design. All rooms are beautifully furnished in close connection with the surrounding area and have their own ensuite bathrooms. They come with complimentary toiletries and air-con.

Each room has an outside patio or garden – the ideal place to relax with a cup of coffee in the morning or retreat to with a book in the evening. Some rooms overlook the sea, some have their own private garden.

Food & drink

All meals are plentiful, plant-based and buffet style, with lots of choice using fresh local produce. There’s a self serve breakfast (fruit / nuts) for those who need a bite to eat before practice, a yummy (and substantial) brunch, an afternoon snack and dinner.

Alcohol won’t be available at the venue to support an atmosphere of self awareness and reflection.

I really like your approach and find your calming energy radiating around the room just amazing. Your calming voice is very comforting, and yet you remain clear and composed, explaining each new move or next set of instructions so incredibly clearly.

Isabell - her classes and the retreats - are wonderful. The yoga is playful and joyful and her teaching, accompanying the yoga, is insightful and compassionate. Practising with Isabell has become such an important and valued part of my life. I can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.

Asana, breathing, history and philosophy were brilliantly themed through the lessons. It was obvious that everything had been thoroughly prepared but it all still came across with a gentle passion and enthusiasm.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for the week you gave us all. You have a wonderful talent in your ability to cultivate a place of safety, both physical and emotional, while facilitating a near constant state of play. It’s very special and I feel privileged to be able to learn from and with you.

Fantastic teacher, amazing retreats, highly recommend. I've been to Isabell's retreats, and love the way she brings together breathwork, yoga (dynamic and yin) with meditation. Her energy, compassion, playful and intentional approach and the space that she holds all bring together a wonderful group of practitioners to her classes and retreats.
These retreats are a yearly highlight for me. Can't recommend enough.

The experience of the retreat has left in me a sense of wholeness and groundedness I was not expecting... I can see myself a bit more clearly, with more poise, more balanced.

The yoga sessions where excellent - for me length of time perfect and what I would of expected from a retreat. I think I was one of the least experienced, but I learnt an awful lot and left feeling really enthused about what yoga has to offer me, and immediately I want to do more! Am definitely interested in more retreats with your in the future.

I attended one of Isabell’s summer retreats and it was such a wonderful experience. The morning and evening classes were beautifully crafted and a lovely balance of yoga, meditation and breath work. The morning classes were challenging if you wanted them to be, but Isabell always offered inclusive modifications for balances and inversions, especially keeping in mind those with any injuries. The meditation and breath work was really interesting and there were many techniques that were completely new to me so I really felt I learnt a lot over the week. There were also plenty of times to relax between classes in a stunning location with nutritious food - it was a perfect break and chance to reset and reflect.

The level of practice was well structured and I thought there was something for everyone with the various options given. I was certainly challenged at times, and the way you built it up over the course of the week was great. The yoga room was light and airy and furnished with a plentiful supply of props.

Getting there

The closest airport is Comiso, about an hour’s drive away. Catania is about 90mins away and likely has much better connections.

I will arrange a group transfer (likely from Catania) and will announce suitable flight times closer to the dates. It’s always great to gather as many of us as possible for the group transfer, but of course you can also make your own way there – some of you might enjoy hiring a car.
