Yoga

Each morning will start with some breathing and a short sit before we move into an invigorating, creatively sequenced vinyasa flow practice taught with music and including modifications for all levels. The late afternoon sessions will be slow, nurturing and calming gentle flow and restorative sessions, closing with a longer meditation.

Sessions will include my usual reflections on philosophy, psychology and science to deepen understanding and inspire discussion.

Mats and props are provided.

Accommodation

The venue sits in the semi-desert landscape amid lush gardens, its architecture echoing ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

It consists of the main house the ‘Finca’, which won awards in the 80s for its striking modernist design, and a group of converted traditional buildings, the cortijos. The cortijos are just a couple of minutes walk from the main house and next to the yoga studio.

There are shared social and quiet spaces and two pools – a reed-filtered eco-pool at the house and an additional pool at the cortijos.

Food & drink

All meals are plentiful, vegan and buffet style, with lots of choice using fresh local produce. There’s self serve breakfast (fruit) for those who need a bite to eat before practice, a yummy (and substantial) brunch, an afternoon snack and dinner every day apart from one evening when we’ll go out for a meal nearby together.

Alcohol won’t be available at the venue to support an atmosphere of self awareness and reflection.

Thank you so much for such an interesting, enjoyable, exhilarating yet peaceful weekend. I truly loved all of it! So much to take away from one weekend.

Dan

I really like your approach and find your calming energy radiating around the room just amazing. Your calming voice is very comforting, and yet you remain clear and composed, explaining each new move or next set of instructions so incredibly clearly.

Sylvie

I couldn't think of anything I would change about the retreat, it was truly a great weekend. Studio was perfect, nice floor, lighting, views. Food was delicious and plentiful.

Jenny

Asana, breathing, history and philosophy were brilliantly themed through the lessons. It was obvious that everything had been thoroughly prepared but it all still came across with a gentle passion and enthusiasm.

Robert

Interesting topics which really made practical sense in combination with the yoga sessions. The yoga studio was really wonderful - the views, the peacefulness and the sunsets were beautiful.

Sarah M.

I've already recommended it to many friends, and would definitely be up for a longer period next time. Sad to come home at the end of it.

Kaye

I enjoyed the great yoga, lovely people and relaxed and friendly nature of it all. I felt I could really disconnect. Loved everything. Thank you for your wonderful energy - it was a great weekend.

Sarah L.

I wanted to say what a wonderful time I had and how profoundly grateful I am to you for the lessons I have learnt through your teaching of yoga.

Gemma

The people i was sharing with were wonderful and made me feel welcomed. The studio has a great view. I loved overlooking the green with animals.

Getting there

The nearest airport to Finca del Alamo is Almeria, about 30 mins away, which is served by a number of airlines from London and elsewhere.

I will arrange a group transfer and will announce suitable flight times closer to the dates. It’s always great to gather as many of us as possible for the group transfer, but of course you can also make your own way there, and the venue will be able to assist with this.

Flying into Malaga (~2.5hrs from Nijar) or Murcia (~1h45mins) is also an option, particularly if you’re thinking of hiring a car (or to avoid a crazy early flight from Gatwick).

Booking and payment

A £300 deposit will hold your space with the balance due 8 weeks before the retreat.

Ensuite shared twin room £1,245 pp

Single room with ensuite or private separate bathroom £1,495 pp

Payments can be made by bank transfer (my preferred option) or debit / credit card (at an additional 3% card fee).

Please read the Terms & Conditions before booking.

Activities and excursions

There will be no afternoon session one afternoon to allow you to explore the surrounding area (e.g. head to one of the beautiful beaches).

Finca del Alamo is in a peaceful, isolated location, but within an easy 30min stroll of the pretty traditional local village of Nijar, which can be seen across the valley at the foot of the spectacular mountain backdrop. You can also explore an extinct volcano or walk up to the mountain village of Huebro via the Ruta del Agua (around 90mins each way with an opportunity for a refreshing swim at the top – highly recommended!).

Finca del Alamo sits on the edge of the Cabo de Gata National Park, one of the last unspoiled stretches of Spanish coastline. It’s an amazing landscape of perfect half-moon bays, hidden coves, bizarre volcanic rock formations, and spectacular flora and fauna inviting exploration.

Excursions to nearby beaches can be arranged (~30mins drive).
